Adventures with Jim and Shirley

The Hofmanns came to the Keys this week and, if you know them, you know that we had a great time.
They spent their first night aboard in Largo Sound, where we have been anchored for the past 5 days.
The wind was not really cooperating, so we decided to drive to Key West for a night and stopped by to visit some of their friends who live on Big Pine Key.  They met us in Key West for a night and we had a great time with them.  You know, any friends of Jim's have got to be a little crazy!

Two nights in Key West was almost more than we could handle!

This 'statue' was alive!

We met a couple of crazy brothers who almost got us in big trouble with the law.

We finally got back to the boat on Friday and set sail right away.  We went through the only opening bridge in the keys, into the bayside where the water was calmer.

Nice beer bellies, fellas.

The next day we had a beautiful, relaxing sail through the bay and the Hofmanns set out for home.

Once again, we caught a beautiful sunset.

And, of course, the beautiful sunset at Mallory Square!

We got a snapshot on the webcam in front of Sloppy Joes, too!

Jim had brought a bottle of Dom Perignon, vintage 1999, and we popped that at sunset.  I don't think I'll ever get tired of watching the sun go down!

Apparently famous in this area is the 'Nautilimo' who just happened to be out for a cruise that evening.  After he returned his passengers, the 'captain' came back out and enjoyed a little fruity rum drink with us.

P.S.  Notice the boat in the background (oops!)  Don't let this happen to you!
