June Boredom

Things are pretty quiet down here in the Keys right now.  We were getting tired of the windy days and the rainy nights, but now we're really missing them.  And we're missing our friends!  Sure do wish someone would come down and visit us.  We're getting bored with each other, trying to find things to do that don't cost $$$.  Just about finished working on the interior woodwork.  Got three coats of varnish on just about everything, and couple more coats on some things.  Will take some pictures when it's all done and shiny.
We had been anchored in a small harbor, called Community Harbor, in Tavernier, for a couple of weeks.  Met some nice people there that live at the marina full-time.  They built themselves a tiki hut and they get together to have their own happy hour every afternoon.

This manatee was hanging around for a couple of days.

We were talking with some of you at the Gaslight a few nights ago when Tom fired the cannon at the sunset watchers on shore.  They all got a kick out it.

We are now anchored in view of the new high-bridge that was completed last year.  It takes US 1 from the mainland to Key Largo, over Jewfish Creek.   We took a hike to the top of the bridge (a little scary with the traffic whizzing by us).

This is Gilbert's resort/hotel/marina/tiki bar, now located under the bridge.
That's Lady Triana WAAAAAAY out there.

How much of our tax $$$ do you suppose went to put that name in the concrete there, just in case you don't know where you are when you're driving over it???

This osprey took advantage of a great view, but it doesn't look to me like her kids would get a very good night's sleep here!

I see why they call these guys sea cows.  They're actually pretty ugly.  Or, maybe it's that they are SO ugly they're cute.

The next morning, we found that he had shot holes in the seat on the back of the boat.  DUH!

A little stormy in Miami, but we didn't get a drop.

And, of course, like every evening here in Florida Bay, the sunsets are priceless.  Mother Nature at her best!
